I'm Not Dead!
I'm just hard at work on things I can't make interesting blog posts about. I have a giant spreadsheet with all the stats for all the units in the game. The trick is balancing it all out. Second round of playtests will be in 2014! The future!!!

Playtest #4!
They played this one through to the bitter end, ignoring technology and economic victories. Thanks to Eric, Lu, Chris and Alethia.

Update 10-29-2013
I have not had time to stop and update here, but things are still progressing! Did another playtest last week, new playtest scheduled for this weekend. I've got some new art from Mike Lyon! I will post that later.

Project Update 10-16-2013
Punched out a few more playing pieces. Spent this week editing the rules. Ran a play test tonight for a 4-player game. I got my first 4 surveys in! Yay! Now I can read them and ponder their meaning and comments. Everyone said they would play it again, so that's good.

I Realize How Crazy I Sound.
OK, so the concept for the game is players battle for global supremacy
in a world ravaged by endless war, disease, natural disasters, and
biblical calamities. You do so by taking command of one of 6 unique
factions, and leading them to victory through careful resource
management, bold military strategy and cunning political maneuvers.

Bonus! Concept Art!
More from Vintzent, who is a goddess in her own right. That is just all kinds of awesome.
Second Playtest!
So, lots of good lessons to be learned from this.I need to make a few more tokens. And revise some rules here and there. I lucked out, the system itself is pretty good as is. Also, turns out, nobody trusts the giant talking spiders.

Construction: Done
Hopefully I'll have my first playtest soon. I was briefly distracted by a button-making machine, but I'm back on track.

Update 09 27 2013
Nearly all game tokens have been printed and cut. I spent a good hour last night popping them out and bagging them up. I realized I need one more set of tokens, maybe some money counters...
Also started the territory card deck. I got about 30 cards in before I had to take a break because it's just too tedious.
This proto will be playable this weekend. It's a little scary and exciting.

Unit Cards 2
I assembled the SHIT out of some cards last night. Cut them up, double-sided taped them, stuck them to index cards, arranged them in piles...Yeah. I'm getting all crafty.

Unit Cards
Printed 15 pages of unit cards last night. Tonight I'll cut them and compile them into 4 decks. Yay.

Things to Make 09-18-2013
I made a list today, of all the things that I need to design and print in order for the game to function as a game the way I imagined it.
These include:
Player control tokens (have some of the ideas for faction logos thought out)
Bonus resource tokens (Dunno what these will look like. Maybe a lab beaker and a pile of money)
Hazard tokens (Designed these already, but nothing printed)
Research tokens (Science!)
Money tokens (Found out my friends hate playing with paper money due to longevity issues)
Victory point tokens (For research, espionage and alliance victory)
Alliance cards (Parchment or shaking hands, or bro-fist. Probably bro-fist)
Territory cards (Pain in the butt)
Unit upgrade cards (technically started, but need to be redesigned)

Rulez!
I have a small functioning set of rules. This game just became playable. Well, playable once I get everything printed.

Twerkin
Ohhhh what have I been up to?
I wrote something, and forgot what that was.
I dug around on the internet for simple pixel art to use as a place-holder until I get some finalized art done for the individual units. That was fun.
I've been typing up unit-cards. Getting those things sorted out and ready to print is a slow process.

Reading Material
When you start a project like this, no one tells you how much reading you have to do.
Reading about Kickstarter. Reading about game design. Reading about printers. Reading about pieces and materials.
Readiiiiinnnngg Paaaaiiiinnnnboooooow!

Spreadsheets
Made spreadsheets for unit upgrade cards tonight. Also redesigned the spy percentage probability chances of success. Boy do I love spreadsheets...

Spies & Tech
I spent a lot of time today working on the tech tree and putting down rules for how spies work.
Research rules are still...fluid.

Alpha Map 01
Got the first version of the map printed and put together last night.
One step closer to realizing my dream.
Where Am I Going?
I'm building a board game. I'm doing it for myself. People get hung up on why. Why am I doing this, why now? I don't have an illusions of it being a huge hit or making money off it. I'm doing it because it makes me happy.
